A Blog Within A Blog

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! Yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep – while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
-E.A.P-

I decided to rework this blog and concentrate the posts on dreams, dream interpretation, astral projection and paranormal activity. Still a wide range of topics but slightly more focused than the current format. I find these topics to be most interesting and I enjoy writing about them the most. If you are interested in these topics you might want to visit the archive and read Dreams 0001 and Dreams 0002 (if you haven’t already).

Occasionally I will highlight works of poetry and short stories by Edgar Allen Poe and other authors. There are many amazing stories and poems out there that explore dream worlds, sleep disorders and nightmares. I thought it would be appropriate to begin this new format with the complete Edgar Allan Poe poem, A Dream Within A Dream (above), I figure that it shows respect to Poe considering I took the title of his poem for the title of my blog! (plus it’s something for you to read while I write some fresh material). I hope you enjoy it. If you get as much pleasure from reading Edgar Allen Poe’s poetry as I do, you may also want to read Dream Land or The Sleeper. Another work of Poe which I am quite fond of is a short story entitled, Silence – A Fable (originally published in 1938 under the title, Siope – A Fable).

I hope you enjoy this new format. As always, please feel free to comment and please include your own opinions and experiences.

The next post will be along shortly and it will discuss the origin of dreams and dream interpretation.

Thanks for reading…
